After my test ride a few weeks back, I eventually decided to trade in my Tiger 800XC for a Monster 1200 S.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Going from a 75hp adventure bike to a 145hp naked is quite the difference. I haven’t had a chance to do much other than interstate loops on test rides and the ~70 mile trip back to Santa Fe, so about all I can really say about it is that it’s stupidly fast, and reasonably comfortable.

Had (Still technically “have”, but selling) a Monster 796. One of my favorite bikes I’ve ever owned. I’ve did multiple 1,200 plus mile trips on it, not any worse for the wear.
Good bikes, can’t beat the Duc sound, congrats and ride safe.

Aw c’mon. The tiger800 is 110hp, not 75..give it some credit. That being said, doesn’t hold a candle power wise to the 1200cc Testastretta engines.

I suddenly have a severe case of jealousy and envy... even though that is way more bike than I am capable of handling.

I don’t know your skill level, but it’s a fairly docile bike. I’ve got about 6 years of riding nakeds and the Tiger, and I don’t feel like it’s too much. It’s got insane power, but the handling is pretty forgiving.

Really? I could have sworn it was 75. Regardless, it was not cutting it at 7000 ft

My Ninja has 90-95HP, and that’s fine. It’s the lack of reaction time when you use all those horses that makes me think a 1200 is still above my skill level. Adding 50 more of them would not do me good. I would love it though. One day...
My skill level could best be described as adequate, but I am not pushing the limits of the bike. There’s still about an inch of un-used tire on the edge.

well maybe it did have 75hp at 7k ft. lol. When I took my Multistrada 1200 up to Pikes Peak, I was amazed at how slow a 150hp machine could feel at 13k feet of elevation. For what it’s worth, I’m in New Orleans (typically below sea level).
